This program is open to young professionals in Missouri and is organized through the community development arm of University Extension. Basically it operates as an exchange program with citizens from Thailand.
Here’s a bit more from director Sandy Hodge:
Global Leadership Education 2009 – “Emerging Young Professionals”
The overarching purpose of the grant is to increase mutual understanding and build relationships, through individuals and organizations, between the people of the United States and Thailand. It is funded by the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State.
Our focus for this program is to building the skills of emerging young leaders to plan, implement and evaluate local community service and volunteer programs and to gain a greater understanding of the role these programs play in communities. They will also be developing collaborations and partnerships with Missouri institutions while they are here.
We have prepared a program that touches on many areas with respect to volunteerism, community service and non-profit development and organization. These areas include the arts, environment, public safety, community well-being, local governance, programs for the disabled, religious diversity, and youth leadership development.
A Thai group will be visiting Missouri in late May and early June.
